The Naza Group of Companies is Malaysia’s largest privately-owned conglomerate with businesses in the automotive industry, property development, food and beverage and hotel management to name a few.
The group traces its roots to a small motor trading company that was established by the late Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin in 1975. That motor trading company later expanded to include used-luxury vehicles.
Today, the Naza Group is led by its joint group executive chairmen – Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin and SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin – and is one of the largest importers of used-luxury vehicles in Malaysia.
The group has also evolved into a major importer and distributor of global automotive brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, Brabus, Peugeot, Kia, Chevrolet and Citroen. Aside from these brands, the Naza Group owns dealerships for Mercedes-Benz and Perodua.
Besides importation and distribution, the Naza Group manufactures Kia and Peugeot vehicles at its RM500 million plant in Gurun, Kedah. The vehicles produced at this plant are for both the Malaysian and overseas markets.
Apart from the automotive business, the Naza Group is also one of the largest distributors for motorcycles in Malaysia. The group is currently the sole importer and distributor for Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia and Gilera.
It also imports used-luxury bikes and manufactures scooters and bikes under the Naza brand at its RM30 million motorcycle manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Outside the automotive and two-wheeled motor vehicle industries, the Naza Group is an established player in the property development market through its subsidiary, Naza TTDI, which is best-known for the development of the acclaimed township of Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur.
To-date, Naza TTDI has completed over 14,000 residential and commercial units and is currently developing the iconic RM4 billion Platinum Park, a world-class high-end integrated residential and commercial development in the prestigious Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
In the food and beverage industry, the Naza Group owns the rights to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co franchise in Malaysia and is the master license holder for the Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt brand in Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Brunei and Thailand.
As for hotel management, the Naza Group owns two hotels in Malaysia under the Naza Talyya Hotels brand as well as the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro, California and the Howard Johnson Inn in Torrance, California.
As a major player in the Malaysian automotive industry, the Naza Group has established several initiatives to train and develop talent. At Gurun, the group established the Naza Kia Academy to provide technical and management diploma programs to its employees.
The group also entered a partnership with Motorola University to offer executive development programs to the group’s employees. More recently, the Naza Group entered into a partnership with HELP International Corporation Bhd to establish a college of automotive and transportation management in Malaysia.
Apart from these industries, the Naza Group has subsidiaries involved in limousine services (Prestige Limo), transportation (Naza transport), taxi services (Zalnas Limousine and Naza Citycab), aftermarket accessories (NZ Galaxy), financing (Naza Credit and Leasing), auto insurance (Naza Coverage and Eight Valuation) and plantations (Wood Vision).
