NASIM ON TRACK TO LAUNCH T33

Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia, is on track to launching a new Peugeot sedan, codenamed T33, in the fourth quarter of this year.

The T33 is currently being assembled at the Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) plant in Gurun for both the domestic and export markets.

Nasim had entered into an agreement with Automobiles Peugeot in November 2009 to assemble the T33 for Malaysia and markets in the region which eventually led the French carmaker to appoint Nasim to spearhead its expansion in the region and making Malaysia its manufacturing hub.

As the manufacturing hub, Nasim will assemble cars at NAM's plant in Gurun which will be exported to right-hand drive markets in the region.

The T33 is expected to herald a new chapter for Peugeot in Malaysia through Nasim's strategy of offering premium vehicles at attainable prices. The T33 will feature an array of specifications that are not offered by its competitors in the same segment.

The T33 will be the second highly-anticipated model to be launched by Nasim this year. In June, the company launched the award-winning 3008 SUV.

Meanwhile, demand for the T33 is expected to drive up production at NAM's plant for 2011. NAM's facility in Gurun, which was built at a cost of RM500 million and launched in and has a total capacity of 50,000 units per annum.
